He has recently fulfilled a pre-professional graduate assistantship with the newly established Illinois Tutoring Initiative aiding the facilitation of a $25 million grant using federal COVID-19 relief funds in support of the Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Office, the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the Illinois State Board of Education high-impact tutoring initiative. He completed his fieldwork at the Illinois Mathematics &amp; Science Academy before earning his Master’s Degree in International &amp; Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco a few years after his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at Wabash College. He has previously completed contractual work with Northwestern University and Johns Hopkins University at the intersection of civic engagement education and youth development. Prior to enrolling at ISU, he volunteered as the Policy Director for the Young Democrats of Illinois and organized a mutual aid group in McLean County during the first sixteen months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Derek M. Lough manages fundraising for The SDG Program Fund, serves as a member of the “Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals” Working Group for The Forum on Education Abroad, the Graduate Student Advisory Council at Illinois State University, and researching climate justice education for his doctoral studies.</image:caption>

As part of her doctoral work, she is currently working on developing a sustainability assessment tool that would aid in understanding the efficiency of the various university-wide sustainability initiatives. Nikita has a keen interest in environmental social science and evidence-based policymaking. She hopes that her research will aid policymakers in making laws that encourage sustainability literacy and culture within higher education. To that end, she was Virginia state's science policy fellow placed at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, where she advised the state government regarding funding for basic research. She is the Founder and President of the Science Policy Network at Mason, a graduate student organization that aims to provide foundational science policy training and engagement opportunities for early-career scientists. Through the National Science Policy Network’s Science Diplomacy program, she was placed at the Diplo Foundation where she helped develop a curriculum that educates diplomats about the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).</image:caption>

She has international experience by having lived and worked in Tokyo – JAPAN with TAISEI Corporation as one of the summer intern participants in 1993. She graduated in 1992 as a Bachelor of Architect Engineer from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia. In the year of 2000, she obtained her Master in Management degree from Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Manila, Philippines under the AIM Dean’s Full Tuition Scholarship Program. On August 30th 2012, she obtained her Doctoral degree from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) majoring in Education Administration for Higher Education. PT.
